the mock evacuation was carried out yesterday... seems like it was quite a success.. but...
prior to yesterday, i was thinking to myself, it would be great if i could be part of the exercise... i mean it would be a great opportunity to learn many things... moreover, we have been living a sheltered life for so long... but the potential of being a target for terror attacks exist...
reactions of commuters
ppl were upset tt they would be late for work...
>>hello, if there's really a bomb, are u sure u will still rush to work?
ppl evacuated the place in an orderly fashion...
>>pardon me, but, if there's really a bomb or some chemical gases emitted, are u sure, the singaporeans, known for their kiasu-ism, will be orderly...
>>just think of the mrt during rush hours in the mornings and evenings, can't wait to get into the train for fear the train will never come again? dotz.
>>i think it is highly possible that they would shove and push and run to the nearest exit and try to save themselves... (inferring from how people actually shove and push just to get a 10bucks fan.. bah.)
>>what about the lady who was shoved while getting up the bus service? so much for being orderly...
lady who had a mild panic attack...
>>cheers to the lady who fainted.. oops... and of cox, it's indeed unfortunate that she suffered the mild panic attack... i sure hope she's feeling much beta...
>>apologies for being honest but i think the lady who fainted did a great job. i think this is what would happen in case of a real emergency. i mean given the loud and/or massive explosion, people would be frightened, shock, panic... fainting spells, vomitting are unavoidable...
>>not only were the rescue team able to react to the unexpected situation, it made the exercise even more realistic...
personally...
i think i might faint ... given that i dnt dare to take those exciting rides at the amusement parks... haha.
if i were to be in a real situation where a bomb attack took place, can i really stay calm? will i be able to try to help to make the situation better? i sure hope so...
i mean if i saw people, especially big-sized men shoving children, the elderly or ladies, just to get to the nearest exit, i think i would be damn pissed and start screaming at the men...
besides, i'm sure everyone wants to get out safely... wouldn't evacuation be made quicker and more simple if everyone could try to remain calm... i mean who's not afraid? everyone's frightened and panicky, but being selfish doesn't seem to make things beta as well...
[[look at the people who try to rush into the mrt before letting other passengers alight, doesn't it just slow everyone down? hordes of ppl rushing into the train and ppl trying to squeeze out of the train... collision, the only thing that's on my mind.]]
people, if u wish to get out alive, pls be orderly and if it's within your means, lend a helping hand to others... i'm sure kindness begets kindness and you will be rewarded... =)
so, people, being orderly does have its benefits... now we know why we have to learn to line up in primary school...
cheers.
